Selim loved going to school and
learning new things. His favorite thing was to tell his mother and father what
he learned at school at dinner when he came home.
Since his mother was not sent to
school by his father at the time, she grew up working in the fields, and was
taught to read and write by an older brother who was one of the seasonal
workers in the field. His father, on the other hand, studied medicine,
graduated, and was appointed to his mother's village to work in order to get
his expertise. After that is history...
Science lessons were on the menu
today! Miss Semra was explaining the human body and its organs.
"Yes, children! Our internal
organs are small workers inside our bodies that we cannot see with the naked
eye, each with a different function that allows us to live.
The organ that controls all
organs is the brain. The brain controls the muscles, has duties such as
ensuring coordination, perceiving and interpreting the data produced in our
body, providing speech, storing memory and creating emotions and thoughts.
Our lungs fill our chest like two
inflatable balloons. Its most important function is to pass the oxygen we
inhale by breathing into our blood and to remove the carbon dioxide produced in
our body.
And our liveeeeer...”
Selim was both listening and
trying to take notes of what Miss Semra was telling. He was trying to draw the
organs shown by the teacher on the board in the most accurate way to show his
mother and father in the evening. Selim wrote as the teacher explained, and
when the lesson was over. It was recess time. He became engrossed in the game.
When school was over, he and his friend Yusuf were on their way home.
-Do you want to come over this
evening, Selim? We can play soccer together in the backyard.
-I would love to, Yusuf, but
today I will tell my mother and father about the internal organs we have just
learned.
-Oh right! I forgot your evening
tradition, did you take good notes at least?
-I did! What caught my attention
the most was how different organs worked so harmoniously with each other. Think
about it; No organ can interfere with the duties of another organ. If that
organ does not do its job, another organ cannot replace it. How special are they?
-I wish people were like
organs...
-What do you mean?..
- I mean, I wish everyone
would just do their own duty and be compatible with other people. You shouldn't
try to make decisions in someone else's life. For example, my mother.
I'm tidying my room, it not like I’m not. But I have an order of my own, I like
to put my pencils in a drawer, not in a pencil case. So that it doesn't
distract me when I see it on the table, and I can reach it right away. But my
mother thinks my drawer is messy, so she takes them and puts them in the pencil
case. We argue constantly about my pens. However, it is my duty to tidy my
room, I wish she would not interfere in my room.
-Hmm... You're right, Yusuf. For
example, our liver controls and filters clean and dirty substances in our body.
But our stomach digests the food we eat. Now, if the liver says, "I will
digest today," then our body will be open to harmful substances. Who will
protect the body this time?”
-So you're asking if my mother
does my duty, then who will do my mother's duty?
-That's right, Yusuf! The
person who plays the leading role on someone else's stage remains an extra on their
own stage. Everyone should play their own role very well, and if they are on
someone else's stage, they should be a very good supporting actor. Everyone
should be harmonious within their own boundaries.
-Wow Selim! You said it very well
indeed! Can I come over to dinner? I wonder what your mother and father will
say!
-Ha ha! Why not? Let's go!

YanıtlaSilWhat a great metaphor, everyone has their own duty and responsibilities like our body… If we meddle with others desicions we neglect our own. 👏👏
YanıtlaSilTo play the lead in someone else's life... How heavy that sits...
